Dr. Janis Mertz, O.D., began her career, practicing optometry as a Captain in the Medical Service Corp with the United States Army in California, Texas and Germany. She then practiced within private ophthalmic and commercial optometric practices throughout the South Shore of Massachusetts.  

Throughout her long and distinguished career, she has taught at the University of California, School of Optometry @Berkeley and at the New England College of Optometry in Boston.  Dr. Mertz currently teaches clinical optometry at NECO on a per diem basis.
